Miss Crimea: In 2015 Unreported World went to the disputed Russian region of Crimea for a beauty pageant just a year after Russian forces seized it from Ukraine. At the time, the move was condemned as an illegal annexation by the international community but was welcomed as a historic homecoming by Crimea's sizeable Russian majority. But before it was either Russian or Ukrainian, Crimea belonged to the Crimean Tatars, a Muslim minority, many of whom opposed the annexation.Marcel Theroux went to meet one young Crimean Tatar who was hoping to become Miss Crimea 2015.
