I never beat my mother or stole dundun as Oluwo alleged--Abiola Ogundokun
After a terrific chase of over 8 months, Asabe Afrika TV finally cornered eminent Nigerian and Publisher of CONSCIENCE International Magazine, High Chief Abiola Abiona Omopennu Adeniyi Ogundokun (OBANLA of Iwo Land)Penultimate Saturday afternoon, our team cornered the former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN) under President Shehu Shagari and former Osun State tactical committee Chairman of People's Democratic Party (PDP) under Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola.Chief Abiola Ogundokun, a socialite, business man and politician of over 60 years clocked 83 on Saturday July 7, 2018 but choose to celebrate in a low key.Several attempts to get him in his Lagos and Abuja home equally proved abortive as he was either busy outside the country or on his farm somewhere in Osun State. Chief Ogundokun, the Ajagunpote of the Source (Ile-Ife) and Apesin-Ola of Erin Osun land (Osun State-South West Nigeria) is a news maker any day any time. He has been a strong force in the Nigerian political arena for straight 50 years, doing business side-by-side politics. In recent times, news of him and the youthful traditional ruler of his community--Iwo in Osun State has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. Ogundokun who has contributed immensely to the development of Iwo since the early 1970s has equally supported the crowing and reigning of over 3 different Oluwos (traditional rulers of his kingdom) until the emergence of Oluwo Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi (Telu 1) in 2015.Chief Ogundokun who is said to have equally rallied moral and financial support for the new Oluwo soon became a boot of joke across Yoruba land as the Oluwo stripped Ogundokun of some of the titles given to him by his predecessors and even the one given to him by the Islamic community. The Oluwo had alleged that the highly revered Chief Ogundokun was rude to him, despite the fact that Ogundokun furnished his palace with N5 Million Naira and allegedly supported him financially for a longer period. But Chief Ogundokun said he only tried advising the youthful king against certain misconducts unbecoming of a traditional ruler.Ogundokun equally went to court and re-claimed his religious (Islamic) title of 'BASORUN MUSULUMI OF IWO LAND', a title given to him by a conglomerate of faith based Islamic Organization in the South Western Parts of Nigeria. The war that broke the once robust father-son relationship between Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi and High Chief Abiola Ogundokun equally snowballed into a theater of royal absurdity where the king was sighted at various fora abusing Ogundokun and calling him names. This obnoxious act by the Kabiyesi made Ogundokun seek redress in the court of law. When we met him in his house penultimate Saturday afternoon after he returned from a meeting with ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo (GCFR), Ogundokun who tactically dodged some cogent aspect of the court suit as it was subjunctive for him to enumerate on them, strongly rebuffed some of the tarnishing allegations the Oluwo made of his person since 2016. He went into his reservoir of history and churned out details of his profile from nobody to somebody in Iwo and Yoruba land. It was vintage Chief Abiola Ogundokun. You will find the interview interesting.Enjoy the clip!IF YOU LIKE THIS VIDEO, SUBSCRIBE TO OUR CHANNEL AND KINDLY ALLOW OUR ADVERTS PLAY ON (DON'T SKIP) TO ENABLE US BE IN BUSINESS.THANK YOU!
